ROPE ACCESS - LEVEL 1, 2 and 3
Level 1 - This is a rope access technician who is able to perform a specified range of rope access tasks under the supervision of a Level 3. This is the entry point for new candidates to the industry. Level 2 - This is an experienced rope access technician who has Level 1 skills plus more complex rigging, rescue and rope access skills, under the supervision of a Level 3. Level 3 - This is a rope access technician who is capable of complete responsibility for rope access safety in work projects; is able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required of Levels 1 and 2; is conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation; has an extensive knowledge of advanced rigging and rescue techniques; holds an appropriate and current first aid certificate and has knowledge of the IRATA training, assessment and certification scheme
The 5 day IRATA Level 1 course is designed to take candidates through all the requirements to be a qualified IRATA Level 1 Technician. The 5 day IRATA Level 2 course is designed to take candidates with sufficient industrial rope access experience through all the training and examination requirements to be a qualified IRATA Level 2 Technician. During the 5 day IRATA? Level 3 course you will become confident in rope access site supervision and safe systems of work. You will gain the skills that you need to lead a team safely and efficiently in an industrial rope access contracting situation. This course covers additional legislation and advanced rigging and rescue techniques
Certificates are issued by IRATA following successful completion of the assessment on the final day of the course. They are valid for 3 years from the date the course is passed.
Candidates should be medically and physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination and be able to move their own body weight repeatedly. Candidates should also be free of medical conditions which are contra-indications for this type of work, e.g. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, obesity, etc. Completion of a self-certified medical declaration indicating such fitness will be required for all rope access courses. Minimum age is 18 years. Level 2 - Minimum 1 year and 1000 hours as a L1 Level 3 - Minimum 1 year and 1000 hours as a L2
